PDF Help - I need to create a fillable form that, when completed, is saved in a specific folder location…

Sorry if this is the wrong sub. If so, would someone please point me in the right direction.

• Basically I need to create a weekly checklist form. The individual who fills it out would simply check off each task as completed and type their name in a field at the bottom of the form. When the document is saved, it would get filed in a specific folder with a document title that includes the name of the individual and the date submitted. After the document is saved, it is final and cannot be edited.

How hard is this to do? and do i need any special tools? Thanks in advance!

Hi! I’m a 1st year graduate student.

I’m at that point where I’ve been doing a lot of research, and am now fed up with every other PDF not having highlight-able text, or highlight non-adjacent sections oddly, or have partial-to-all sections not searchable by Control+F.

Optical character recognition (OCR) tools for scanning a PDF, and outputting a text file (PDF ideally) containing the contents is what I need. Correct? I need a tool (not Adobe or others non-free) that can accomplish this on Windows 10.

Ideally it would be output another PDF with the same formatting and all the relevant metadata (XML?) appended to the file. Not super sure how PDF’s work, but would love to learn more about how my desired functionality is supported by special data structuring. Thanks!

Basically I scanned some notes and the pages were on pink paper, and now if i want to print it either prints with red in the background or if its in grayscale the back becomes black. How can I make the background white so it just prints the text on a white background. or a way of removing the text from the pdf to print.

Outlook 2010 attachments wont open properly.

Hello,

I have a issue with a computer of a customer. Windows 7 64Bit.

They have Adobe DC (Downloaded today) installed and Outlook 2010.

The attachments in Outlook 2010 are not being opend. They appear in the screen very very shortly after opening and Adobe DC will close himself again.

In the process list also the process of reader is closing.

I’ve reinstalled the software and made Adobe a new default program.

The workaround is: - Open Adobe DC - Open the attachment, this way the attachment is being opend.

The issue is: - Open outlook - Open the attachment PDF, this way Adobe DC will close himself again after being opend.

Any suggestions?

help me reduce the file size via /r/pdf

help me reduce the file size

working with a 20 page pdf and it needs colour and has text. think like book size text on A4 paper.

Currently it’s 16mb and i can’t get it any smaller!

I used smallpdf.com to get it to 26mb but that still felt way to big and so i opened up the free adoby reader and printed to pdf and all that jaz so it’s 15mb now.

the pages are between 50-70% images however so that may be adding a lot of size? it’s just 26mb seems like a lot for 20 pages to me. 15mb seems okay but not really the best.

Did I just ruin my entire PDF by deleting all the menu items?

TIFU. So, here’s the story. I’ve made an 800 page PDF With 100-200 bookmarks. I like to add a menu item on my documents that zooms every bookmark click to the ‘fit to page’ view, because it with the particular use of this document.

However I wasn’t able to add the menu item like I usually do, because of some item that was already in some bookmark or other. This sometimes happen because the PDFs I make are based on external documents, and sometimes they will have their own configurations.

So here’s my blunder. I thought, what the heck, I’ll just delete them and substitute my own!

There I was, happy with hours of work finally done. And I get a call from one of the recipients the next day - THE BOOKMARKS AREN’T WORKING.

Oh gosh, I did it, didn’t I? I deleted them all. The bookmarks are still there, but they don’t link to anything.

Of course I have no back up, Windows isn’t offering any previous versions, I think I messed up.

Any guardian angels out there know a way to restore the bookmark linking, or will I have to do it all again?

What’s the best freeware fast PDF program that can let me input data forms, sign, and save?

This is in updated 64-bit W7 HPE SP1, Linux/Debian (oldstable), and Mac OSes (v10.11.6 El Capitan and higher). I dislike Adobe’s Reader since it is slow, bloated, etc. Examples of PDFs: https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw4.pdf, https://www.dropbox.com/s/g4q4de1txcmcke4/HRJobApplicationForm-v2.pdf?dl=0, etc. SumatraPDF v3.2.1 can’t do them in Windows.

We’ve just come across an invoice PDF which displays a totally different document in the Firefox internal PDF viewer (I’m using 57.0.4) than in any other viewer.

Acrobat Reader and every other PDF viewer we’ve tried shows an invoice intended for our company, but the Firefox version shows another invoice entirely, with different items, amounts and recipient details entirely, but from the same company (same letterhead, invoice format etc).

The most obvious explanation is that we’re somehow dealing with more than one PDF, but we’re not. Clearly, the PDF contains both documents, somehow, even though it shows up as a single page, single layer PDF in all viewers.

I wish I could post the specimen file publicly and easily prove the above claim, but it’s an internal document. I’m not sure how to proceed, but I see the fact that Firefox is showing unintentional document contents as a curiosity/inconvenience and the real concern is with the original document generation process on the sender’s side (the PDF producer is shown as “SAP NetWeaver 740”, as this resulted in us receiving a copy of an invoice intended for another company entirely (i.e. potentially proprietary information could be leaked this way).

Perhaps a SAP bug of some sort, but I’d like to understand what’s going wrong before I try to convince them that there’s a problem, given that we’re not a SAP customer.
