Problems saving web pages as PDF. via /r/pdf

Problems saving web pages as PDF.

On occasion I need to save a web page, like someone’s twitter feed, to PDF.
When I do so, I often get graphics problems, as the “cover photo” (The photo at the top of someone’s twitter profile) keeps repeating every new page, and blocks some of the comments, and other photos as well.
1: Is there a way to save a web page to PDF that includes no graphics?
(I tried toggling both the “headers” and “Background graphics” options to no avail)

2: Is there some other fix for this?

Self Modifying PDF file?

I have an employment agreement with my employer in PDF format. At the bottom was a place for me to enter my name in text to acknowledge acceptance. Upon reading the agreement, I had questions so I put “NEED TO DISCUSS” instead of my name. No one ever asked me about it, so I forgot about it. Now, several months later an issue has come up. But now, when I view the PDF, the entire section for my name is missing! I’m wondering, can JavaScript be embedded into a PDF that could delete a section based on the passage of time or some other trigger? Or am I going crazy?

Field engineer reports - editable PDF ?

One of my clients wants to get their field engineers (non-IT) to complete a report of work done and then send it back to the office electronically.

They currently get the job instructions (address, customer, work required etc) as a PDF attachment to an email and they open it on their phones.

I was wondering if I could use editable fields on this PDF and then a send button to send it back to the Office once completed. I’ve had a play with Nitro Pro which sort of works on a laptop, but not on an Android phone. In the end they’d type on a cheap tablet ideally or perhaps cheap laptop/Chromebook.

Anyone done anything similar?

First, I apologize if this has been asked several dozen times before. But, I think our requirements are unique enough:

We spend a lot of time reviewing Engineering Drawings. In addition to the ability to comment/markup drawings and sign them the other important tool for us is the measuring “ruler”.

​

Frankly, Acrobat DC is too expensive for our small business, so I’m looking for an alternative PDF editor for which I can purchase a perpetual license instead of the monthly subscription.

​

Any recommendations? Thanks much for your help.

Windows 7 PDF Reader With Night/Dark Mode?

I’m stuck on Windows 7 at work (I know, it’s ridiculous) and could really use a PDF reader that supports night/dark mode. I have to read a lot of documents throughout the day and the eye strain is killing me.

I’m talking actual dark mode here. Workarounds such as the “Replace document colors” option on Acrobat Reader DC aren’t really cutting it because these documents often have textboxes with odd colors that do not play well with the white text.

​

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Embedding TrueType fonts in a pdf

I am in the process of creating a simple, one page pdf with graphics and a small amount of text. The requirement I have been set is to ensure that the pdf has fully embedded TrueType fonts.

I have experimented and managed to create a pdf from a ppt file with fully embedded Type 1 fonts, but this is not suitable. Whenever I try to use TrueType fonts, I can only embed a subset of the fonts.

I have access to Adobe Acrobat XI Pro and Foxit Phantom.

Any ideas?

Help with online PDFs

Earlier this year I clicked on a link which loaded a online hosted pdf which could have been downloaded. Unfortunately, this pdf has since been removed by the company, but included information which would be very beneficial to me. The reason I didn’t download it was because I never expected it to get taken down but have since learned my lesson to download everything. That said, the pdf was once loaded on my computer and I am wondering if there is a way to retrieve like a photo copy or something as it has once been loaded? When I go to basic internet history, the link is still there but simply simply outputs an error when clicked on notifying the user about the removal. Perhaps there is like an alternative history I could access? Any help is greatly appreciated!

I have a large collection of PDFs that contains documents like memos, contracts or tables. Looking through them, I realized there are a lot of duplicate pages. Filtering them out would make analysis of these files much easier. So my question is:

Batch find, highlight, and comment tool or script? Even Possible?

My job entails reviewing PDFs highlighting errors and making comments on them. I run into the same errors multiple times in one document. Is there a tool or script, to search for the errors, highlight all the instances and make the same comment for each one without having to go page by page, highlighting, double clicking, and then pasting my comment in the pop up note? This would make my job so much easier especially with 1000+ page documents. I found a script to find and highlight search results but nothing for batch comment making.

Ok so I have a really long PDF. It is a scrolling screenshot I made using Snagit. It is technically all 1 page, but I would like to print it out so I am looking for a way to separate it into different pages. Does anyone know how to do this?

hi, our company recently received a review that this review actually includes texts, images, and profiles on other companies.

We want to use this PDF for promotion, but we are wondering, can we mask those parts which from other company of the PDF in which these parts we don’t want to show our clients. I remember that I saw some similar situations, that other ppl just black and white those parts, or maybe decreased the contrast of the selected parts, or masked these parts in some way. Just need to learn how to do it. Thanks. We use adobe acrobat pro.

Let’s say you have a folder (“c:\users\johndoe\documents\files\”) with 100 PDF documents and you would like to password-protect and convert only the ones whose filename starts the word “taxes” of which there may be 90. To do this one at a time would take up a lot of time and effort and would likely end up with the password being typed in wrong for some of the files. By using wildcards however, you can specify the filename as “c:\users\johndoe\documents\files\taxes\.pdf*”
