Buttons stopped working

I play dungeons and dragons and use the clean sheet. It’s a pdf that auto calculates a lot and has some javascripts making it all work.

It worked great for a long time. But today the buttons stopped working! I have no idea why.

Updated acrobat reader, updated java, tried other readers (that did even less than acrobat reader).

Is there some update or change that makes buttona stop working that came out in the last couple of months?

Tried different pc’s, all the same thing.

Windows 10, acrobat reader, all up to date with updates, no changes to the software or the file

I think the font glyphs on a PDF file have been corrupted so as to prevent copy-paste. Is there anyway I can undo this so that I enable copy-and-aste?

Media requirements for properly embedding audio and video

I’m trying to save PPTX files as PDF, and I need to have the multimedia files work in the PDFs. I’ve got some MP4 videos to work (though only on Windows), but my audio files never work in the PDF. I’ve tried WAV and MP3 formats, but nothing works in the resulting PDF. (Using Acrobat DC Pro, by the way, and I’ve tried PowerPoint’s PDF Save As… function as well as the Save as Adobe PDF that Acrobat DC installed).

What do you have to do to get audio files to work in PDFs?

Disable Saving

I’m using Power PDF 2.1 to create form fillable PDF’s for work. The problem we’re having is that inspectors are filling out the forms, then saving a copy of the PDF as something else locally, and reusing it while changing a few relevant fields. This has lead to a few issues where incorrect information is on those forms. Is it possible to disable saving of a PDF within Power PDF to prevent the inspectors from saving a filled out form?

Currently the code is like this but it’s only doing the “str.” ones:

PDF not printing filed in fields?

Hi! I have a PDF that has text fields, and I cannot for the life of me figure out why it won’t print the filled in fields??

So, I got the blank template, filled in the fields i needed, and then saved a new one with the filled in fields. I go to print it, and it will not show the text, or print the text either. It prints everything else, other than the filled in fields.

I have tried saving as a new PDF, Printing to PDF also. Is there something I am missing? I have never had a PDF do this to me before.

Problem with Security on PDF via /r/pdf

Problem with Security on PDF

I have a document which won’t allow me to edit due to security restrictions.

I don’t think there should be a password in place but when I try and disable the security it asks for a password and if I just hit enter it says incorrect password.

I have tried several password crackers on it, and all of them have reported the document is not protected by a password. One of the crackers converted the first 15 pages into an unprotected document but I don’t have a paid version for the remainder.

Regardless I don’t think the document should be protected anyway.

Anyone know what is going on here?

Trying to search Delta Dental’s PDF, search doesn’t work, nor does copy

Here’s an example of trying to search for root, with no results, yet several results for “root” clearly shown on the page.

And this is what it looks like when I try to select all the text. This happens whether I use Ctrl+A, or manually select with the cursor. I tried using Xodo also with the same result.

How can I turn this into a form that I can search within? Thank you.

I am currently working with a lot of pictures which are submitted to me in PDF files. The first task I need to do is to enumerate a lot of different things within the pdf. Starting from [1] to [xxx]. This takes a lot of time because as of now I have to create a note or comment and insert everything manual. Is there a smarter and less error prone way to do this?

PDF to Google Slides? As images only via /r/pdf

PDF to Google Slides? As images only

I have PDFs with many pages that I want to get into Google Slides presentation, a slide for each page. I’ve tried a dozen PDF to PPTX converters and design gets messed up in the conversion because these PDFs are very chart heavy and when the text moves even slightly it can throw the whole graphic off.

I don’t need to be able to edit text, so a high quality screenshot of each page automated into the presentation would be fine. Anyone aware of a tool to automate a high-quality screenshot of each PDF page as its own slide to Google Slides or PowerPoint?

So I’m currently solving this by manually touching the PDF in Acrobat, but I’m wondering why neither Microsoft nor Adobe apparently try to convert Word signature blocks to PDF signature blocks.

Anybody know? All the references I’m finding are either 20 years old or are ambiguous about whether pdfmarks even work any more.

Hey there, thanks for clicking. So I was laid off Thursday afternoon and have gone through the pain of getting personal assets setup, had maintained my work computer for personal needs (non-nefarious) for years and all the sudden I’m without. I’d had Nuance Power Advanced on my work PC for years and honestly fell in love with the functionality. Being without income and having just bought a personal PC I’d rather not face the music of the $160 price tag for advanced, but still need an app that will allow for PDF merge/markup/redaction… Anyone have any ideas/suggestions to meet the need? I’d honestly love to just go for Nuance, but honestly just don’t feel like the need outweighs the cost at this particular moment.

I certainly appreciate any advice or help so thank you in advance!

As a part time financial bookkeeper, I like to write an invoice number onto PDF invoices, and then highlight this inserted text, then save the file as PDF.

Is there free or cheap PDF software which will allow me to do this simple thing? I want the file to remain, (or finish), as a PDF, but with just a little bit more text inserted over/next to the original PDF content. I have been using soda PDF, but it is not worth the annual cost considering the simple job I need and that I have found it an unreliable piece of software. I don’t need all the fancy PDF editing stuff or complexity that comes with PDF editing software (Soda, nitro, PDFelement).

Adobe Acrobat Pro DC - how to underline a text field?

I’m pretty noobish at creating PDFs. I’m using Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, version 19.010.yadda.yadda. I’ve created a basic PTO/Time-Off Request Form. Ideally most people will fill it out on their PCs and email it to HR, but for anyone using it offline I’d like to include underlines for where they enter text. The user entry spots are all “text fields” under prepare form, so when printed it’s just blank spots.

I’ve tried using comment to create lines, but getting them exactly where i want them is a huge pain in the *$%. There’s got to be a better/easier way to do this which is still aesthetically pleasing (as opposed to outlining the whole text box). Thoughts?

Help please! Zoom changing when scolling.

I have a user that will set the zoom of a document to, let’s say, 150%

When he scrolls to continue reading, it will resize the next page back to the default page zoom.

I cannot recreate this on mine or others.

Is there some weird setting for this?

Converting PDF text to readable format

Hey guys - I have a PDF that is a spreadsheet, but none of the text is readable. It’s a long enough PDF where re-creating the spreadsheet would take way too long, so I’m trying to find a process to convert the PDF to a readable format. For example, right now if you were to search for a word (that is clearly visable), nothing would show up in the search. The idea is for the text to highlight all of the parts of the document where the searched word appears. Right now nothing shows because the text is not recognized for some reason.

Extracting an image of the cover page

To get a thumbnail of the first page of a PDF document, I use the “snapshot tool” (Foxit) to select and copy the image, which I then place on my desktop. Then I use ACDSee to resize the image to a thumbnail. I have to do this for each PDF document (book or magazine) and can be time consuming. Is there any way I can automate this so that I can get thumbnails of every PDF in a particular folder? I’d like to be able to quickly get thumbnails of up to 300 PDF documents. Thanks.

I’m working on some PDF related software and would like to test it against a large variety of PDF forms - does anyone have any idea where I could find a large quantity of PDF forms created by different software/organizations (ideally thousands?)

how to convert interactive form to non-editable pdf?

Hello all,

hope all is well with you guys!

upon creating an interactive form using indesign and adobe acrobat pro in to be filled out by various parties, now i want this pdf, that has been filled by those parties to be saved in a manner that is non-editable, and that keeps the filled data.

​

i looked it up on google, and couldn’t find a way other than saving it as optimized pdf then flatten all form fields from discard objects which does banish the filled out data.

Bicubic downsampling help?!

This might be long apologies in advance. I have a bunch of pdfs which I have been using bicubic downsampling to reduce their size as they are too big for what I need (125mb tops) I’ve been downsampling to 190ppi for images over 200ppi. I did this to one pdf (let’s call it book A) but it was still too big (it went from around 230 mb to 188 mb) so I then split book A into two parts and downsampled part 1 (it was still too big once split) however the quality of part 1 after downsampling was much less and to the point of unreadable (it then became 20mb). Any ideas why the quality changed so much, I didn’t change any settings, would the number of pages in the pdf affect the downsampling? Really sorry if this makes no sense but I’m just so confused, thanks!

Creating a frame over an image.

Basically, I created a pdf that has a frame around the image so that the frame prints over it. I was able to make it so it was hidden and printable and users were able to insert the image and it would print fine, but they wouldn’t be able to see that outside of print preview and I kept getting emails about how it wasn’t working properly even though it was.

So now, I am trying to make the frame that appears and obscures part of the fillable image field visible and printable, but not clickable in any way. I am having a lot of trouble. I was considering putting a button to the side so people just wouldn’t click the image field in the first place but their is probably an easier solution. The biggest issue is the frame image has to sit on top of the image field users click on.
