In the office save PDF file on desktop The file is OK, it opens without any problems.
Then from home I connect through Remote Desktop to the office computer and copy this file to the home. When you try to open the file, you receive an error message that the file is corrupted and cannot be recovered (There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired).
At first I thought about possible incompatibility of versions (at home I have Adobe Reader 9.5.5) but after several attempts I established that the file really spoils, and spoils at copying from the PC to the PC. The fact is that during the transfer from one computer to another PDF file slightly increases in size. So my file in 344 KB turned into 352 KB. Moreover, such a miracle happens only with PDF files – others are transferred and copied normally.
Read a bunch of forums – discuss error opening file, but no one talks about this phenomenon as a change in size. If it was already discussed – please generously give a link, because don’t found. And if anyone knows the cause of this glitch, I would greatly appreciate the help

I have two specific tasks that involve manipulating PDF documents. I am able to achieve these tasks with PDFSAM and a javascript in Acrobat Pro, but I prefer to use Foxit PDF Editor to read my documents and do other basic editing tasks. So I want to have a lightweight program that can replace my specialized, but very limited, use of PDFSAM and Acrobat Pro.
The two specific tasks that I have mentioned are:
1) Merging documents with alternating pages (e.g. document1page1, document2page1, document1page2, document2page2, etc.)
2) Adding one blank page after each page in the document, using the existing page size.
As far as I am aware, Foxit PDF Editor does not allow javascript or any sort of scripting for that matter. I am also aware of the program pdftk, which is lightweight and seems to be extremely versatile, but I don’t know how to code. If it is possible to achieve the two above tasks with pdftk, can someone provide the neccessary scripts for it?
I find it really annoying to open a PDF ebook and see the table of contents (TOC) / outline fully expanded making it useless as an overview. Likewise, there are some that are fully collapsed under a single item. Both cases require me to manually toggle the open state of the items to make it usable and no PDF reader remembers the adjusted state, so it must be tweaked each time.
I’d usually rely on cpdf to solve this, by using -list-bookmarks, edit the resulting text file, then re-add them with -add-bookmarks, but I just realized it only supports page-level bookmarks and will convert all the existing bookmarks that point deeper within the pages. So I can’t use this tool without it making the bookmarks less useful in a different way.
Is there any other tool that would allow modifying the outline (technically it’s stored as PDF bookmarks) in the PDF file so the items can be expanded or collapsed as specified? Ideally I could pass a number indicating the desired level and it would close all children below that level and open all children up to that level.

Hi guys,
I have some very old manuals in PDF format that i want to print off and turn into physical books. My issue lies with page ordering and double sided printing and I cant find a great way to fix this.
I’ll try to describe as best i can.
the pages are in A5 size but are being printed in a4 but with 2 per sheet. as an example of this, the first double sided page would have pages 2&3 on one side (from left to right) followed by 1&4 on the reverse. if i then folded that page in half to create a small booklet the first page would be 1, followed by 2&3 in the middle and page 4 at the end.
this means when arranging the pages in the pdf they need to read Side A: 4,1 / Side B: 2,3. or just 4,1,2,3 then 8,5,6,7 - 12,9,10,11 etc
Would there be an easy way to script or convert these pdf files to rearrange the pages in this order? the only reason i ask about an automated way is because i have about 50 of these manuals and most of them are over 200 pages.

Hey all,
I’m running an idea through my head and I want to know if its feasible or not. Is it possible to create a PDF form and then scan in a document (that form) with selections marked and have it recognize those selections. As a brief example, imagine I have 4 different check boxes, like a voting ballot, I give a printed version out to people and receive their paper responses. If I scan this response into the computer can I make Adobe recognize their responses? If this is possible, is there any way to then export this data to an excel file for analysis?
