Is there any FREE plug-ins out there that can merge excel lists to PDF forms like AutoMailMerge?

I want to make multiple custom invoices easily and my company uses PDF forms for our invoices. I used the trial version of AutoMailMerge for Adobe Acrobat (developed by Evermap) and it was excellent. The company I work for doesn’t think the $149 price is worth it, (I do! I’m desperate! Not wanting to make these one by one….) so I’m hunting for something similar that’s free… Anyone know of anything?

Find the size of pages in many PDF files?

Hi all,

I have a folder with about 300 PDF files that were scanned from paper, only not all of them are the same size. Is there a way of quickly finding out the page size of *every* file without going through them one at a time?

Cheers!

I wish to take a multihundred page PDF document and reduce it to only the dozens of pages I require. via /r/pdf

I wish to take a multihundred page PDF document and reduce it to only the dozens of pages I require.

Greetings, Sapients! I have a PDF of my entire military record, and I am filing some applications and requests that need only a small portion of the pages in this document. If I had my druthers, I would wave my druther wand and select each individual page as I scroll through, then click my export button and out pops my selected pages as a new PDF file. I currently use FoxIt on Windows instead of the Adobe PDF reader which has displeased me in the past, but lately FoxIt has also been increasingly displeasing. If FoxIt has this functionality hidden somewhere I can’t find it then that would be good, but I am also just fine with another program that does this which would also perform my regular PDF duties.

Thank you for your help, and please ask if I can give any other clarification.

Graphics overlap/hide text when converting HTML pages (Like Facebook)to PDF via /r/pdf

Graphics overlap/hide text when converting HTML pages (Like Facebook)to PDF

My first post here.
I have noticed that some HTML pages convert to PDF more easily and with less problems than others.
For instance, saving a simple Facebook profile page, when going to “Save as PDF” or “Save as adobe PDF” regardless of the scale I choose, or which options ( like headers and background graphics) I select, some of the photo content overlaps the text and overlaps other photos, and blocks out major portions of the page.
Is there a way to “Normalize” or make HTML pages save they way they present when converting to PDF for troublesome sites like FB?
Here’s an example of the “graphic overlap” problem on FB

Thanks.

How to make multiple fields signable

I have a document that is in PDF form. This document is a waiver that the players in my adult baseball league need to sign. Is there a way for me to make this document signable by each player next to their name on the waiver?

My end goal is to have this document in one spot, each player can access it, sign next to their name, and when completed, I can submit it to the league.

how do you keep bullets from converting into symbols when going from word or ppt to pdf with OCR ? via /r/pdf

how do you keep bullets from converting into symbols when going from word or ppt to pdf with OCR ?

So I use pdfelement to edit files and it has a built in OCR. I always run into this problem where when I convert a word file or a ppt file into a pdf , it transforms bullets (• like this one) into symbols. Meaning the software dosen’t recognize it as a bullet anymore and it treats it like a letter or a symbol. When I copy paste the text from the now converted pdf into another file and I try to merge it with another list, it dosen’t remove the old bullets and leaves them there. It looks something like this : - • bananas - • almond - milk. - • grapes - • butter. I then have to remove every bullet individually. Is there a way to somehow avoid this ?

Automated embedded of metadata into PDFs via /r/pdf

Automated embedded of metadata into PDFs

I am an archivist, and we create metadata for PDFs in excel. We convert these to tab-delimited text files in order to batch upload files to our content management system. The excel also acts as an inventory.

It seems to be a best practice to embed the metadata directly into the file. We enter some metadata under the description tab, and the rest under the custom tab: https://www.teachucomp.com/wp-content/uploads/blog-10-26-2018-addmetadatatoapdfinacrobat-1024x577.png

We do this by copying and pasting from the excel. Is there an automatic way to get the data from the excel file into the PDF? Someone I know uses software to embed xml files into TIFF (I think… I don’t understand it well).

Thank you

Accessible Text and logical reading order via /r/pdf

Accessible Text and logical reading order

First while I am technical I barely know anything about PDF’s or working with them.

Skipping to the question…

What effects the default logical reading order for the accessible text save as for an element to not be where it is expected?

Background: At work we do proofs for mailers. Somewhere in the document we always expect to see

reference #: <some number>

For the most part we extract these by saving as accessible text and then reading the resultant text file. This works well except when it doesn’t…

There is a case where two instances of reference #’s are on the document on a page. One case we pick up but the second is missing the colon (:). In text file.

My question is then what effects the default logical reading order for the accessible text save as for this element to not be where it is expected? Eyeballing it, I don’t see what is different.

Thanks for any insight. I am hoping to be able to ask for a tweak to the source document as I remember other permutations that not using the colon would cause problems.

PDF Edit Auto-Update Issue via /r/pdf

PDF Edit Auto-Update Issue

Hi All,

Been noticing a “feature” within Acrobat DC where, if I have multiple numbers that are the same across the pdf, and I edit one, it will edit all similar numbers. For example, I have forms for 30 different people in a PDF. 5 of those forms have the number “18” in a certain spot. If I change the “18” to a “19” for one of the people, it will change that number for everyone. Haven’t been able to find a solution to this anywhere, and it has become quite a nuisance… Let me know your thoughts!
